Motion Graphics

Motion Graphics in this film is what I like to call the cherry on top. Shakti is meant to look beautiful as a stand-alone 3D film, but the added 2D motion graphics are meant to help push the visuals to a new level. Motion Graphics exploration took place from Fall 2021 to Spring 2022. There was a lot of creative brainstorming, in the beginning, to figure out how it was going to look after it was composited on top of the 3D assets. We started this process by identifying the 6 key shapes for the 6 key emotions. These shapes would be incorporated while expressing Ahani’s emotional journey. The next step was to explore how each emotion would move and animate on screen. We went through a bunch of different tests to figure out the timing and spacing, keyframing and other effects we could add on top to help us achieve our desired look. In the end, we work really closely with the Lighting and Composting team to make sure our assets are placed correctly. We had a couple of hurdles where we had to really find a way to make things work to look like the Shakti vision we had in mind, but my other Motion Designer is super talented and always helps make things work.
