Production

This film was the type of project I was hoping to bump into while I prepared to enter the Capstone stage of my degree. The number of group projects for each Capstone semester can be pretty limited, so as a project manager you have to really network to find out which projects line up with producing for animation. When I came on to the project it was clear that the directors wanted to prioritize “quality over quantity” and this is what I would say is the most important thing to consider when you create a short film.

Production is the department in charge of tracking all of the progress and deliverable outcomes for each department in the pipeline. For this specific project, production began before the final Capstone semester (the semester the project would be delivered in). The directors and crew completed pre-production before onboarding production for scheduling, asset tracking, and overall project management. Production’s involvement ran through the Spring semester and summer break prior to the Fall Capstone semester.
